Inflation falls to over two-year low in March
Inflation eased to 5.0% in March below February’s 5.6%. March's result represented the lowest inflation rate since August 2021. The moderation was broad-based, with reduced price pressures recorded for food and non-alcoholic beverages, transportation, and housing and utilities. Moreover, prices for restaurants and hotels grew at a more subdued pace. Annual average inflation fell to 9.8% in March (February: 10.7%). Meanwhile, core inflation fell to 5.0% in March, from the previous month's 5.2%. Lastly, consumer prices rose 0.26% in March over the previous month, a smaller increase than the 0.56% rise logged in February.
